Croutons

Don’t ever waste a crumb! Croutons are a perfect way to use “leftover” bread.

I like them on just about anything like salad, soup, or as a quick snack instead of reaching for the chips.

  1. Cut the bread into thick 1-1.5” slices, then cube into 1-1.5” cubes

  2. Add to a big mixing bowl

  3. Top with olive oil

  4. Toss

  5. Add salt and pepper

  6. Toss

  7. Add other delicious herbs and spices. Get creative. Basil, oregano, thyme, sage, grated hard cheese like pecorino romano or parmigiano reggiano. I even like to add some powdered cayenne pepper.

  8. Toss

  9. Spread onto a baking sheet, be sure not to crowd them

  10. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes

  11. Remove from the oven and toss them on the baking sheet

  12. place back in the oven for 15-20 more minutes to finish. I like mine crunchy so I opt for 20 more minutes…or more. Just keep an eye on them. They go from great to burnt quickly.

  13. Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheet.

  14. Store them in a paper bag to keep them crispy.
