Fettunta

Fettunta is a delicious, simple snack from Tuscany made with bread, salt, pepper, and olive oil.

  1. Cut thick 1-1.5” thick slices of my Northern Italian Sourdough

  2. Lay on a cookie sheet and bake at 350 for 20 minutes total. Flip them at the 10 minute mark. Be sure not to burn the edges. Keep an eye on them and remove if they start to overbake.

  3. Place the tasty, crispy, thick-sliced bread onto a plate* and top generously with GOOD olive oil. This is where you want to splurge for the expensive bottle.

  4. Add fresh ground black pepper and fresh milled salt

  5. Enjoy

*You may choose to rub fresh garlic on the bread when it comes out of the oven. Just peel a clove of garlic and rub it across the bread. Not too much so it’s not overpowering, then top with oil. I prefer to enjoy the taste and quality of the olive oil versus the garlic with my fettunta, but it’s your fettunta so try it both ways and decide.
